Taz was one of the two females we purchased just a short while
after we got Zulu and Gringa. Once we got to know the Dogos in general, we
decided we would like to add a couple more to our hunting pack and breeding
program. Andy and Taz both came from up north and were half sisters. The breeder
that sent them to us also sent a few (color copy) photos of Andy's Sire and Dam,
which are not the greatest quality, but I will include in the More Photos page
anyway.
Taz was pretty special in many ways. She arrived in Texas at
only seven months old and as can be seen in the photos, she was well developed
and a great looking pup. It was love at first sight, for both us - when we laid
eyes on her, and for her - when she laid her eyes on her first hog. She took to
the drill like a duck to water. She wanted in the practice pen with the hog so
bad she would whine and cry and chase the pig around from the outside of the pen
for as long as we would all her to do so.
The guy we got these two from claimed he had given them all
their vaccinations, but either he didn't vaccinate for Parvo (and failed to
mention that to us) or he used sub-par vaccine. Unfortunately, we lost her to
Parvo less than two months after she arrived. Needless to say that was a huge
disappointment to all of us. She showed a lot of promise and potential and we
had very high expectations for her. It was a tragic loss and she will always be
remembered by those she touched with her sweet personality and vigorous tenacity
and desire for hogs.
