Thunder had a bark that would wake the dead! His overall size was as
big, if not bigger than any Dogo I've ever raised. He was 130 pounds and stood
28" inches at the shoulder before he was twenty-one months old. He had a
personality as unique and huge as his size and a heart to match. Much like
Romeo, Thunder is a Dogo that I will never forget and miss always. Thunder dog
was born with a heart murmur and never reached his second birthday, but he lived
a very full life even though it was a short one.
He was born on my front porch on a cold December morning with his "Uncle
Romeo" watching from only a few feet away. While he was not blood kin to Romeo,
he was like his shadow and his best little buddy. Romeo was just over 10 years
old when Thunder was born and I think the new puppy in his life added a couple
more years to that of his own. The two were almost inseparable and did
everything together. Lee came over and picked up Gina (Thunder's mother) and the
other two puppies when they were about a month old. She was ready to take a
break from them and I had already started them on solid food by then, so it
wasn't a problem in that regard.
It wasn't a problem in any other area for that matter, as you'll see in the
photos, Thunder took to Romeo like a pig takes to mud and he never once cried
for his mother. Romeo immediately became his mentor, pillow, blanket, mother,
father and best friend all rolled into one. The two of them together were a
pleasure to watch and play with daily.
