| Gringa came into our care after she was already two years
old. Much like Zulu, she had been raised in the Austin, Tx. area,
basically in an apartment, by the same owner. If fact the two were
together when the saw their first hog. The hog was being kept in a horse
pen after a trapper had caught him and brought him to Leroy. Needless to
say, the hog was none too please to be in captivity and was surely not
friendly to the two unsuspecting Dogos that were about to smell wild pork
for the very first time.
Gringa was the first to notice him and bow'd up like a wild cat at an
ol' stray dog. Zulu had not noticed him yet, as he was more interested in
all the attention he was receiving from a few new friends he had made.
When she let out her first bark, Zulu turned to see what all the fuss was
about and it was as though a light switch came on for both of them at the
same time.
The rest is history and the two hunted many times together before
Gringa was put on "maternity leave" for a while. There are a few more
photos of Gringa with her pups and some action shots with Zulu and
Andy in the Hunting Section.
I wanted to show a few old black and whites of her on this page when she
was much younger. Notice the difference in her ear crop in the older
images. Phil gave use these when he brought her to us and told us how he
had her ears cropped a second time. According to him, the vet gave here a
"Dane cut" the first time, so he took her back to have a little more
trimmed off. |
