Baron –noun
a. a direct descendant of such a vassal or his equal in the nobility.
b. a member of the House of Lords.
c. an important financier or industrialist, esp. one with great power in a particular area: an oil baron, a hog baron. 

His registered name is Rankin's Espiritu de los Cazadores, which translates to "Rankin's Spirit of the Hunter". I considered calling him Spirit, but because I had a great bull dog named Spirit for many years, that name was already taken in my personal Dog of Fame. So after much internal debate, Baron is the name I decided on. He does come from a long line of nobility and powerful Dogos and appears to love to "fly" . . . so it seems to fit him pretty well.
